Our actual approach
We deliberately chose a single, well-documented threat-intelligence source (Google Web Risk — see our technical explainer) over aggregating many vendors, in exchange for a simpler, faster, completely free experience with no account and no image ever leaving your device. That's a real trade-off: a multi-engine approach can catch things a single source misses, at the cost of complexity and, in some tools, requiring the image itself to be uploaded for scanning.
Which one should you actually use?
Honestly — whichever fits what you need in the moment. If you want the fastest possible check with zero setup and maximum privacy, that's exactly what CheckThisQR is built for. If you want the broadest possible threat coverage across dozens of security vendors, or a dedicated mobile app, a more established competitor may serve you better. We'd rather you use something to check a suspicious code than use nothing because you weren't sure which tool to pick.
